Newton Man Killed in Crash
The death of Michael Huggins Still, 31, of 1014 S. 2nd Ave. W., early Saturday morning, marked Jasper County’s sixth traffic fatality of 1973.
Still died in Grinnell General Hospital of multiple internal injuries suffered in a one-car accident at 12:45 a.m. on U.S. 6, 5 miles west of Grinnell.
Deputy Sheriff Dean Danley said the vehicle was westbound on U.S. 6 when Still apparently lost control on a downgrade curve. The vehicle went into a skid, crossed the road and careened into a ditch, rolling at least three times, Danley said. Still was thrown from the car.
Danley was assisted by deputy John Wilkins.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the Toland-Wallace Funeral Home.
The Rev. A. B. Sudbrock, pastor of the Newton Baptist Temple, will conduct the services. Burial will be in Pleasantville Cemetery.
