Rod Van Dusseldorp, age 67 of Newton, passed away on Thursday, November 26, 2020 at his home. Private family memorial services will be held on Friday, December 4, 2020 at Coburn Funeral Home in Colfax. The family will greet friends on Thursday, December 3, 2020 from 5:00 - 7:00 pm at the funeral home. Masks are required for visitation. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Arbor Day Foundation or the National Wildlife Federation. Condolences may be left for the family at www.coburnfuneralhomes.com

The son of Melvin and Mary Ellen (Goss) Van Dusseldorp, Rod was born on January 6, 1953 in Newton. He graduated from Colfax High School in 1971. On September 10, 2000, he was united in marriage to Patricia Stephens Barr at Turtle Crossing in Newton. Rod proudly served in the United States Navy. He worked at the Newton Landfill as Superintendent for more than 25 years, retiring in 2013. He also worked as a heavy equipment operator at Van Dusseldorp Sand & Gravel in Colfax. He was a member of the Newton Moose Lodge 923, National Wildlife Federation, and Arbor Day Foundation. He was a former member of the Colfax City Council, and the Colfax Fire Department.

Those left to honor his memory include his wife, Pat; children, Andrew, Brady (Bri), Courtney, Janice, Stacy (Jeff), and Tiffany (Tony); eleven grandchildren, Brandon, Brexley, Breklyn, Devin, Nathan, Trevor, Taryhn, Caitlin, Chloe, Cole, and Kenzi. With his first great-granddaugher on the way. His mother, Mary Ellen; a sister, Rhonda (Larry) Spain; a brother, Reg (Karen) Van Dusseldorp. Preceding Rod in death were his beloved dogs Jasmine and Poohbaer. His father, Melvin, his niece Kerri Brenner and nephew Brian Jennings. ~ The Coburn Funeral Home, Colfax, Iowa 26 Nov, 2020.
