Robert W. Harrington 11/17/1920 -10/9/2009

Robert W. Harrington was born 11/17/1920 to Ina May Bison & William Harrington in Newton, IA. He graduated from Newton High School class of 1938 and had one year of college at Iowa State, Ames, IA before volunteering in the US Army Air Corps as a cadet. He served as a pilot of A B-24 until he was shot down over Holland on August 15, 1944. He landed in the arms of the Dutch resistant fighters and was hidden for 8 months until freed by the Canadian Army when they came into Steenwijk, Holland. Bob married his high school sweetheart Betty (who survives him) in 1946 and then back to Iowa State College in Ames to finish his schooling graduating in fall of 1949.

In January, 1950 he accepted a position in San Francisco. He worked as a masonry expert as he was trained to lay brick by his father. After 25 years of promoting brick he started his own company as a construction consultant retiring 10 years ago. Bob was a 54 year member of Newton Lodge #59 A.F. & A.M. of Newton, IA; a State of California Registered Engineer Fellow of CSI. He was also a member of S.F. Rotary, Engineers Club, World Trade Club, Club Curry, and best of all and the most fun was 5 Bobs and the Alphabet Girls.

Bob was predeceased by his parents, brothers, Francis and Paul.

Surviving him his sister Mary Millsap of Sunnyvale and nieces Christine Garcia & Kathy Millsap. At his request no services will be held. In his memory, donations may be made to your favorite charity.
