Theodore J. Gabelmann, age 92 of Prairie City, passed away on Sunday, September 30, 2018, at Lutheran Hospital in Des Moines. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, October 6, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at the Prairie City United Methodist Church. Burial will take place at Waveland Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Friday, October 5, 2018 from 3:00 - 7:00 p.m. at Coburn Funeral home in Prairie City. The family will greet friends from 5:00 - 7:00 p.m. Memorials may be directed to the Prairie City Ambulance or the Prairie City Public Library. The son of John Jacob and Anna Elizabeth (Vetter) Gabelmann, Ted was born on November 22, 1925 in Newton. On May 29, 1947, he was united in marriage to Dorothy Dikkenberg at the First Reformed Church in Prairie City. Ted worked at the Monroe Table Company in Colfax for 50+ years, retiring in 1990.

He was a member of the Prairie City United Methodist Church and the Prairie City Lions Club. He enjoyed woodworking, gardening and camping. Ted and Dorothy enjoyed 16 years wintering in Arizona.
Those left to honor his memory include his wife Dorothy; daughter, Jean (Jim) Walker; grandchildren, Angela Renee Aalbers of Craig, CO, Lauree Beth (Frank) Brown of Savannah, IL, Michael Theodore (Leah) Wilson and their children, Caleb, Burton, Megan, Anne, and Colton Theodore, David Matthew (Alicia) Wilson and their son Gage all of Prairie City; step grandchildren, Mary Ellen (Troy) Draeger and their children, Dalton and Mallory of Webster City, John Henderson (Kari) Walker and their children, Payton and Finley and Beth Kristine (Todd) McFall all of Des Moines as well as many other extended family.

Preceding Ted in death were his parents, a daughter, Carolyn Ruth Gabelmann and siblings, Anna Ruth Steenhoek, Alma Van Zee, and an infant brother, John. ~ The Coburn Funeral Home, Prairie City, Iowa 30 Sept 2018.
