Death of Joseph A. Jeffries
Friends of Joseph A. Jeffries will regret to learn of his death at his home in Casselton, North Dakota on December 16th. He was born April 27, 1861 to Salem and Eliza Ann (Tramel) Jeffries and grew to manhood in Independence township, Jasper county.
When the Great Western railway was built, he, with his father, erected the first store in the new town of Ira and engaged in the general merchandise business and a short time later was married to Lillian Webb of Iowa Center, having become acquainted with her while she was teaching in the old Fairview school district in the Boyd and Lowry neighborhood.
Besides his immediate family, he is survived by one sister, Mrs. N. W. Maas of Bolivar, Mo. There is one niece and several cousins living near Ira in the community of his boyhood and early manhood.
