Clear Creek news – Funeral services for Samuel Esau Koon were held at Bethel church Tuesday afternoon, Rev. and Mrs. Albert Johnson in charge. Burial was in the Bethel cemetery. The pall bearers were Louis Deeter, Morton Gearhart, Don Weston, Scott Schroyer, Fred Esch and Chancey Akins.
Mr. Koon was born at Dalzeli, Washington county, Ohio, March 1, 1853 and died at the home of his niece, Mrs. Wm. Hoy, in this township, March 5, 1933, age 80 years, 5 days. He came to this part of Jasper county in 1884 and has resided here since, except for a few years in the west.
One sister, Mrs. Letta Morford of Marshalltown, two brothers, Andrew Koon of Griswold and Isaac Koon of Clyde, and other relatives survive.
Friends from a distance who came for the funeral were Mrs. Letta Morford of Marshalltown, Mr. and Mrs. Ed Grosvenor and children of Newton, Mr. and Mrs. Orrie Plummer and sons, Mr. and Mrs. Chancey Kintz, Mr. and Mrs. Russell Kintz, Mr. and Mrs. Joe Schroyer of Colfax.
