Ronald John Burnett
August 21, 1945 - September 15, 2017

Ronald John Burnett went to his heavenly home on Friday, September 15, 2017. Ron was born in Newton, Iowa on August 21, 1945 to Arnold and Vera Burnett.

He is survived by his wife, Kathryn Sells Burnett, his daughter Rhonda Magruder and her husband John, his son-in-law Olan Sides, four grandchildren Pierce, Alina, Elara and Dresden, his sister Joy Oswalt and her husband Glen, two step-daughters, a step-son and six step-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife Linda Burnett, and his daughter Lora Sides.

Ron proudly served in the United States Air Force for 22 years. He retired from the U.S. Air Force in 1987, and from 1992-2007, he enjoyed a second career working for contractors at the Federal Aviation Administration in Oklahoma City. He held a variety of positions, including Sr. Logistics Engineer. Most recently, Ron worked as a Customer Service and Sales Representative for Gatekeeper Self Storage.

Ron enjoyed reading, fishing, playing the guitar, and travelling. His friends and family will miss his funny stories, his teasing, and his warm manner. ~ McNeil's Funeral Service, Mustang, OK 15 Sept 2017.

Ronald John Burnett went to his heavenly home Friday, Sept. 15, 2017. Ron was born in Newton Aug. 21, 1945, to Arnold and Vera Burnett. Ron graduated from Newton High School in 1963. After serving in the U.S.A.F. for 21 years, he retired and settled in the Oklahoma City area. He enjoyed a second career working for contractors at the Federal Aviation Administration.

He is survived by his wife, Kathryn Sells Burnett of Altus, Okla.; his daughter, Rhonda Magruder and her husband, John; his son-in-law, Olan Sides; four grandchildren, Pierce, Alina, Elara and Dresden, all of Mustang, Okla.; and his sister, Joy Oswalt and her husband Glen of Newton.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Linda Burnett; and his daughter, Lora Sides.

Ron was laid to rest in a graveside service with military honors in Mustang, Okla. ~ The Newton (IA) Daily News Mon 02 Oct 2017.
