Rex L. Felten, 89, of Maquoketa, Iowa, passed away on Wednesday, July 21, 2021, at Genesis East in Davenport, Iowa.

A celebration of Rex's life will be held on Monday, July 26, 2021, at 1:00 pm at Carson Celebration of Life Center in Maquoketa. Visitation will be held prior to the funeral from 11:30-1:00 at the funeral home. Burial will be at Union Cemetery, rural Maquoketa.

Rex L. Felten was born on November 18, 1931, in Maquoketa, Iowa, to Herman and Helen (Walrod) Felten. He was raised in Maquoketa and graduated from Maquoketa High School in 1949. He married Mildred Grimm on October 17, 1954, in Maquoketa, IA. Three children were born to this union: Kathy, Karen, and Kenneth. Mildred preceded Rex in death on February 18, 2002.

Rex served our country in the Army during the Korean Conflict and was honorably discharged. He had a friendly soul that did not know a stranger and he would talk to anyone. He lived a fulfilled life being a farmer, rural mail carrier, auctioneer and in his early adult years, he worked at Green Bay Lumber Company. He enjoyed dancing, playing cards and the times he spent with his family. Rex will be missed by all who knew and loved him.

Those left to honor his memory include his children, Kathy Felten of Maquoketa, IA, Karen (Allen) Hoffman of Savanna, IL, and Kenneth (Lyn) Felten of Prole IA; 12 grandchildren, Michelle, Mitchell, Matthew, and Melissa Kinion, Glenn, Katie, and Kirk Hoffman, Cole, Sara, John, and Luke Felten; 12 Great-grandchildren; 3 great-great grandchildren; sisters-In-Law, Betty Felten of Delavan, WI, Marcella Dague of Lake of the Ozarks, MO, and Jean Grimm of AZ. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Mildred, brothers Lyle, Billy, and Donald, sisters Donna Stickley and Leila Orr, and a granddaughter Kara.

In lieu of other expressions of sympathy, memorials may be directed to the Jackson County Humane Society.
