Obituary for Doris Adeline Feuerbach
Doris Adeline Feuerbach , 96, of Preston, passed away peacefully, Friday, November 29,2018, at Mercy Medical Center, Dubuque.

A Funeral Service for Doris will be held at 10:30 am, Saturday morning, December 8, at St. John’s Lutheran Church, in Preston. A visitation will be held Friday evening from 5:00 - 8:00 pm at St. John’s and again Saturday morning from 9:30 - 10:30 before the funeral.

Doris was born January 27, 1922, to Fred and Emma Kucera in Aredale, IA, the youngest of four girls. Fred worked for the railroad and the family lived in several towns before settling on their farm in Elberon, IA. Doris worked on the farm with her parents and often talked about her good memories of that time picking corn by hand, driving the tractor, herding and feeding the livestock. Doris attended school in Keystone, IA, graduating in 1940. During WW II, she served her country at the Des Moines Ordinance Plant manufacturing and inspecting munitions. Doris married her high school sweetheart, Orlyn Gene Feuerbach, in 1943. Orlyn was attending and teaching at Iowa State University during this time. They moved to Preston in 1946 Starting his years in veterinarian practice and later building the Preston Vet Clinic.

Doris loved and supported her new community of Preston. She and Doc made many friends and got involved in several organizations. She was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church, Mary Circle, Women’s Club, Music Boosters and Athletic Boosters, often serving as an officer. Doris delivered Meals on Wheels and serviced the community in many other ways. She was a 72 year member of the Preston Legion Auxiliary, serving as a president for a time.

Doris was a lifelong Cubs and Iowa State fan especially enjoying the Cubs World Series win. She loved to play cards with many different groups from close friends to neighbors to community card clubs.

Her most joyful moments were those involving her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She enjoyed following them in the pursuit of athletic accomplishments and watching them grow up. She often encouraged them to go after their dreams and go out and see the world.

Preceding her in death were her husband of 58 years, Dr. Orlyn G. Feuerbach, their beloved daughter, Janis, who passed away at the age of 3, a great grandson, Kyle Reed, and three sisters, Dorothy Slock, Maxine Knoebel, and Imogene Kucera.
Survivors include five sons, Gary (Fran), Bellevue, Allen (Anne), Los Gatos, CA, Tom (Susan) and Bob, Preston, Dr. Steve (Lisa), Sycamore, IL, 13 grandchildren, and 12 great grandchildren, a sister-in-law, Joyce Feuerbach, Keystone, IA, and several nieces and nephews.
