Tim was born on July 23, 1958, the son of Delbert and Shirley (Thompson) Volquardsen in Clinton, Iowa. He attended Miles High School and graduated with the Class of 1976. He later attended Iowa State University and played football for the Cyclones. He married Valerie Carlisle on August 25, 1984 in Davenport Iowa.

Tim learned the woodworking trade at an early age from his maternal grandfather, Bernard “BJ” Thompson. The same gift Tim bestowed upon his son, TJ. Tim was a master craftsman and appreciated fine workmanship and art. He was known for his custom cabinetry and furniture. Tim studied in Colorado to become a master wood carver.

Prior to opening his own woodworking company, Tim was a skilled diesel mechanic and auto body repairman. Tim learned valuable life lessons growing up on the family farm and was able to use those skills throughout his life.

He was an avid reader, who appreciated old books that taught you how to do something. He gained much of his knowledge this way learning to lay tile, build stairs, plumbing, dry wall, electrical, roofing, and masonry. Tim was a multi talented man. Tim was skilled at analyzing problems, creating simple solutions and calculating math in his head.

Tim was a collector of antiques and loved the thrill of the find, taking many day trips to search for the unusual. He collected old hand planes, plumb bobs, and wood working tools.

Tim was involved in his community and served on the Miles City Council for many years. He had a quick wit and a tender heart. Most of all, Tim was a loyal, faithful friend and loved his family.

Tim will be dearly missed by his loving wife of thirty-four years, Valerie of Miles; one son, Thomas John “TJ” (Alicia) Volquardsen of Springville, Iowa; two grandsons, Ayden and Colton; his mother Shirley of Miles; three brothers, Mark (Colleen) Volquardsen of Clinton, Craig (Sandy) Volquardsen of Miles and Todd (Teresa) Volquardsen of Miles; one sister Lisa (Mike Leamy) Volquardsen of Miles; seventeen nieces and nephews; and ten great nieces and nephews.
