Obituary for Laura A. Turner

Laura A. Turner, 101, of Clinton, Iowa, passed away Friday, February 23, 2018 at Mercy Living Center-North, Clinton. Services will be held at the Clinton Chapel Snell-Zornig at 11:00AM Saturday, March 3, 2018. Visitation will be from 9AM until the service hour at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Clinton Lawn Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Joseph Krick, David Zimmerman, Michael Cecil, Andrew Leonard, Adam Krick and Tucker Cecil.

Laura was born June 9, 1916 in rural Preston, Iowa, the daughter of John and Louise Amanda (Milder) Schroeder. She was educated in the Jackson County Schools. Laura married Marvin Cook in Camanche, Iowa on March 4, 1939; he died December 21, 1959. She later married Elzie A. Turner in Clinton on December 28, 1962; he died November 16, 1981.
Laura was a homemaker and had also been employed at Bennett Box Company and International Paper for several years, retiring in 1974.
She was a member of Saint Paul Lutheran Church and was a former member of the Women of the Moose. Laura loved gardening and in 2000, when she was 84 she was in the Clinton Garden Walk. She also enjoyed traveling throughout the entire United States.
Survivors include her daughter, Carol Fulton of Clinton, Iowa; son, Roger (Ann) Cook of Camarillo, California; grandchildren, Lori (Dave) Zimmerman of Fulton, Illinois; Kristi (Joe) Krick of Clinton; Lisa (Mike) Cecil of Holt, Missouri and Eric (Jessica) Dyer of California; great-grandchildren, Andrew and Sarah Leonard, Jessica and Tristan Seibel, Melissa and Matt DeLarm, Megan Zimmerman, Emily and Adam Krick, Carly, Tucker and Laney Cecil and Maya, Colton, and Xander; great great-grandchildren, Ivy and Andrew Leonard, Macie and Skilyr Seibel, Gus and Coy DeLarm, Bastien and Brynn Balous and Eliott Schutz; Sisters, Loretta Sullivan of Clinton; Clara Hall of Bullhead, Arizona and Alberta Mommsen of Clinton and her brother William Schroeder of Clinton.
In addition to her husbands, she was preceded in death by her son-in-law, Charles Fulton, four brothers and five sisters.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Saint Paul Lutheran Church for underprivileged children.
