William C. "Bill" George, 93, of Bellevue, Iowa, passed away on Tuesday morning, April 24, 2018, at the Mill Valley Care Center in Bellevue, Iowa.

A celebration of Bill's life will be held at 11 A.M., Friday, April 27, 2018 at Carson Celebration of Life Center in Maquoketa. Burial will be at the Evergreen Cemetery, Delmar, Iowa, with military honors.

William Clyde George was born on February 17, 1925 in Colchester, Illinois, to Clyde Ralph and Neva Anna (Hancock) George. He grew up in Illinois and graduated from High School. He was a World War II veteran of the U.S. Navy. He married Althea Gnade Campbell on May 20, 1972 in Rock Island, Illinois. She preceded him in death on February 5, 2014.

Bill had worked in maintenance for Standard Oil Company traveling all over Eastern Iowa for 37 years until retirement.

Bill attended St. John's Lutheran Church in Bellevue and had been a member of the Masonic Lodge and the American Legion.

Those left to honor Bill's memory include his children Clyde (Lorraine) George of CO, Douglas George of CO, Mary Jo (Tanner) Lovisone of CO; a step-daughter, Shirley (Rev. Dr. Jack) Reents of Ocala, FL; 7 grandchildren, 8 step-grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren, and 14 step-great-grandchildren; and siblings, Robert George, Mary McKinney, Betty (Gene) Johnson, and Anna Mae Montgomery. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Althea, a son Martin, a step-daughter Janet, and a brother Lloyd.

In lieu of other expressions of sympathy, memorials may be directed to the Jackson County Humane Society.
