Elizabeth “Betty” June Fondell, 91 of St. Donatus, IA passed away on Friday January 12th 2018 at Mill Valley Care Center in Bellevue, IA.

Visitation will be at St. Donatus Catholic Church from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, January 16th, 2018. Funeral mass for Elizabeth and Harold will follow at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Scott Bullock officiating. Burial for Elizabeth and Harold will follow in the church cemetery. Leonard Funeral Home & Crematory, 2595 Rockdale Road is in charge of arrangements.

Elizabeth was born June 5th, 1926 daughter of Charles and Anna (Buss) Cole in Lawler, IA.

She married Harold Fondell on June 26th 1947 at St. Mary’s Church, Dubuque, IA. He preceded her in death on April 7th, 2012.

She was a loving and proud mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She enjoyed cooking, painting, crafts, sewing and quilting for family and friends. She and Harold loved to travel, they and their children traveled to all 50 states, Canada and Mexico.

Surviving children and spouses of Elizabeth and Harold: Linda Mausser, Bonny (Mike) Boyd, Nicholas (Angela) Fondell, Charles (Suzanne) Fondell, Anthony (Julianne) Fondell, Jeanie (Greg) Kalmes, Joel (Joan) Fondell; daughter-in-law Tamara Fondell.24 grandchildren and 47 great-grandchildren, shall continue to honor the wonderful family traditions established by them.

She is also survived by her siblings, Lucelle Gardner, Marion Stone, Raymond Cole.

She was preceded in death by her son Christopher Fondell; her son-in-law Joe Mausser; sister Charlotte Fisher and brother Charles Cole.

The family would like to thank the staff of Mill Valley Care Center and Hospice of Jackson County for their wonderful care and kindness given.
