Arnold Leo Bormann, age 78, of Preston, Iowa, passed away Tuesday, November 28, 2017, at the Jackson County Regional Medical Center in Maquoketa, Iowa. A Funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, December 2, 2017 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Preston. Burial will take place in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery, Preston. Visitation will be held from 4:00-7:00 p.m., Friday, December 1, 2017 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Preston. A scripture wake service will be held at 3:30 p.m., prior to the visitation at the church. Memorial may be given to the Muscular Dystrophy Association in Arnold’s memory.

Arnold was born March 24, 1939, in Preston, Iowa on the family farm, the son of Raymond and Laura (Feller) Bormann. After his mother’s death, from the age of four, Arnold was raised by his father and stepmother Florabel Michels Bormann. Arnold proudly served his country in the United States National Guard for six years. He married Darla J. Bratthauer on August 20, 1959 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Preston.

Arnold farmed his entire life in the Preston area. He started farming on his family farm and eventually bought his own farm. Arnold was a member of the St. Joseph Catholic Church, Preston. He loved baseball and was an avid Chicago Cubs fan. Arnold enjoyed playing cards with family and friends, especially Euchre and 500. Arnold also enjoyed restoring antique tractors and pedal tractors. He loved family vacations, especially their annual summer outing to Wrigley Field to watch the Cubs. Most of all, Arnold loved spending time with his family and watching his grandchildren play sports.

Arnold will be dearly missed by his wife, Darla; seven children, Cindy (Loren) Manning of Clinton, Iowa, Mark (Ann) Bormann of Preston, Kevin (Carolyn) Bormann of Preston, Lisa (Steve) Feuerbach of Sycamore, Illinois, Gary (Tammy) Bormann of Andover, Iowa, Lori (Marl Ismail) Bormann of Singapore, and Ryan (Becky) Bormann of Minneapolis, Minnesota; 18 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; 10 siblings, Eleanor Thines of Preston, Robert “Bob” (Madonna) Bormann of Monticello, Iowa, Laura (Reinold) Steines, Bellevue, Iowa, LaVonne Gerlach of Maquoketa, David (Gwen) Bormann of Dubuque, Iowa, Dennis (Becky) Bormann of Preston, Arlene (Ed) Skoff of Dewitt, Iowa, Zita (Bill) Blumhoff of Albany, Illinois, Raymond (Lisa) Bormann of Preston and Joyce Miller of Preston.

Arnold is preceded in death by his parents, Laura and Raymond, and his stepmother, Florabel Michels.
