Mrs. Tietjen, Native, Dies
Mrs. Anna Tietjen, 82, Bellevue native, died at 10:10 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 14 at Mercy hospital, Dubuque, after a short illness.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, Dec. 17 at St. Mark's Lutheran church, with burial in St. John's cemetery, St. Donatus. Rev. Richard Otten, pastor of St. Mark's officated.
Mrs. Tietjen was born March 26, 1857 (sic/1875) at Bellevue (sic/Tete Des Torts township), a daughter of the late Diedrich and Caroline Nothdurft Hueneke. She was married to Diedrich Tietjen May 17, 1889. They farmed near Bellevue until 1950. She was a member of St. John's Lutheran church, St. Donatus.
She was preceded in death by her husband.
Survivors include four daughters. Mrs. Henry Gieseman, the Misses Pearl and Vera Tietjan, all of Dubuque and Mrs. Joseph Buscher of Chicago, Ill.; a granddaughter, Ruth Marburger; four sons, Lestor of Stockton, Ill., Milo of Rockford, Ill., Howard of St. Donatus and Diedrick of Dubuque; 18 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren; a sister, Mrs. Katherine Bittner of Bellevue; and two brothers, George and John Hueneke, both of Bellevue.
