FROM JACKSON COUNTY

Suicide

Special Correspondent of the Dubuque Times

ANDREW, July 13
This morning a young man by the name of Carl Borret, a shoemaker, was found dead in his room. An inquest was held over his body, and the jury found that he came to his death by hanging himself. He was found suspended by a leather strap nailed to the door of his room, and when found he had settled down so that most of his weight rested on the floor in a sitting position. He was in an entirely nude condition. Before doing the deed he had tied up his jaws with a cord, apparently with the intention of keeping them from opening after death. He was a young man who was well thought of in the community. It was thought that disappointment in love matters was what led him to the act.
