JOHN SHANNON DEAD.
Early Wednesday morning occurred the death of John Shannon one of the early settlers of South Garryowen, who passed away after an illness of several weeks.

Mr. Shannon was born in county Limerick, Ireland, about 85 years ago and came to this country in 1846. He was married to Mary Moran, sister of James Moran of Cascade. She died about eight years ago. Deceased was held in high respect by all his neighbors and acquaintances, and his long and useful life closed in a peaceful and happy death fortified by the sacraments of the church. He is survived by his three sons, James, Patrick and Thomas Shannon, and one daughter, Mary Ellen, wife of Maurice Donovan, all of whom reside in Garryowen.

The funeral will be held on Friday at the Catholic church in South Garryowen,
Rev. Father Rooney officiating.
