The First White Child Born

BELLEVUE, Feb. 7

In your issue of the 6th inst., was noticed a communication signed Secretary, who reviews several places in regard to the first white child born in Iowa. We claim to have that honor in the persons of Mrs. Wm. Simpson and her brother Columb Bashp*. Mrs. Simpson was born in Sand Prairie, 1830, and two years afterwards, her brother. So we think this settles the question, and Jackson County varies the palm of having the first two white children born in Iowa.
