Ed Thompson secured the contract for building the new jail last Tuesday. His bid was $4,840, and it being the lowest, he got the job. Then the matter of location was next taken up, and upon investigation the committee concluded the Central Hotel property was about what they needed, so it was purchased for $2,000. Geo. Prusia, the owner, made a warranty deed of same to Jackson County, reserving the right to remove all buildings before July 15. The contractors will begin work at once, getting materials in readiness, and after July 15 the building will be raised and pushed to completion so as to comply with contracts in having the building finished by Nov. 15. – Maq. Rep.
