Robert “Bob” E. Lindsey, 75, of Marengo passed away Wednesday, Aug. 3, 2022, at UnityPoint Health-St. Luke's Hospital in Cedar Rapids. Funeral service: 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 10, at Kloster Funeral Home, Marengo, with Ben Brecht officiating. Burial with military honors conducted by the Marengo American Legion Post 76 and the U.S. Marine Honor Guard will be at the Marengo Cemetery. Visitation: 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 9, at Kloster Funeral Home, Marengo. A memorial fund has been established.

Bob is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Carol of Marengo; his two sons, James (Shantel) Lindsey of Florida and Robert Lindsey of North Liberty; three grandchildren, Courtney (T.J.) Mangold of Marengo, John (Brittany) Lindsey of Marengo and Carrie (Tom) Detweiler of Parnell; eight great-grandchildren, Brook, Hunter and William Mangold, Jeryn, Harlie and Declan Lindsey, and Tiffany and Rachel Detweiler. Also surviving Bob are his sisters, Shirley, Martha, Peggy, Margie and Sue.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Roger.

Robert Earl Lindsey Jr. was born Sept. 21, 1946, in Earle, Ark., the son of John and Clara Septer Lindsey. He attended school in Arkansas until the eighth grade then went to work helping his mom in the cotton fields. Bob enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corp in January of 1966. He was united in marriage to Carol Jean Taylor on May 18, 1966, in Arkansas.

Bob worked for Cryovac in Cedar Rapids for many years, after retirement he did odd jobs to keep busy. He enjoyed fishing, hunting especially mushroom hunting. In his later years he had a passion for traveling and was always ready for the next adventure. Bob loved spending time with his family and his great-grandchildren. He will be deeply missed by many.
