Kathy Elaine Monaghan was born November 15, 1946, in Washington County, Iowa, the daughter of Charles William & Gladys Elaine (Hagist) Snedigar. She graduated from English Valley High School in 1965. On June 22, 1968, Kathy was united in marriage to James Ronald Monaghan in Kinross. They farmed near Kinross until 1976.

She was a teacher’s aide at English Valley schools for 8 years and worked in various roles at several stores at Tanger Outlet Mall in Williamsburg. Kathy was a member of the Kinross Christian Church, where she was active with the Ladies Social Circle and the EV Inter-Church Council Board. She served as the Liberty Township Clerk for many years, a supporter of the local Boy & Girl Scouts and was instrumental in organizing the PACE group in the English Valley Schools. She enjoyed spending time with family and friends, playing cards, doing puzzles, watching classic TV shows, and Jeopardy.

Kathy died on Friday, June 17, 2022 at the Manor House Care Center in Sigourney, at the age of 75 years.

She is survived by her children Brandon Monaghan of Keota, Dawn Shafar of Mebane, North Carolina and Nathan Monaghan of Keota; two granddaughters Amanda (Triska) Heron and Myka Shafar; and a brother John Snedigar of Keota.

She was preceded by her parents and husband.

A Memorial Service will be held 12:30 pm on Friday, July 1, 2022 at the Powell Funeral Home in North English. Visitation will be from 10:30 am until service time. Memorials may be given to Essence of Life Hospice. Messages and tributes may be left at www.powellfuneralhomes.com
