George W. “Butch” Fields Jr., 74, of Cedar Rapids, passed away early Friday, June 17, 2022 at ProMedica Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation.
Memorial Services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Saturday, June 25 at Papich-Kuba Funeral Home East, 1228 2nd Street S.E., with Pastor Deb Black officiating.
Butch is survived by his three daughters, Teresa Fields of Victor, Shelly Canfield of Cedar Rapids and Carrie Ewing and husband Shane of Vinton; eight grandchildren, Alexis (fiancé Grant Weaver) Clymer, Daisy Clymer, Johnny Clymer, Ellie Canfield, Lillian Canfield, Grant Ewing, Clark Ewing and Anthony Ewing; three great-grandchildren, Walter, Jack and Franklin Weaver; and six siblings, Lois Frisk, Louise Pierce, Carol Rawson, Penny Zeller, Pauline Hanson and Mike Fields. He is also survived by his former wives, Carol Pretz and Jan Nunemaker-Hanks, both of Cedar Rapids.
In addition to his parents, George Sr. and Ruth (Kimbrough) Fields, Butch was preceded in death by five siblings, Doug Fields, Bonnie Miller, Shirley Lauterbach, Evelyn Weaver and Cheryl Hootman.
George Jr. was born January 19, 1948 in Cedar Rapids and had lived in Shellsburg and Palo where he was living when he graduated from Shellsburg High School. From Palo, he later returned to Cedar Rapids. Butch was employed at ADM for over 30 years until his retirement.
He was a Navy veteran, serving during the Vietnam War.
