Funeral services for Dale L. Wilson, 79, Altoona, were held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 29, at Iles Funeral Homes, Grandview Park Chapel, Des Moines.
He died Saturday, August 26, 2006 at Iowa Lutheran Hospital. Burial was in Sunset Memorial Gardens Cemetery.

Dale L. Wilson was born July 10, 1927, in Mercer, MO, the son of Ralph and Lela Gibson Wilson. He lived most of his life in the Des Moines area. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict.

He worked at Firestone for over 30 years, retiring in 1984. He was a member of Christ the King Lutheran Church. He enjoyed country music and playing the guitar, camping, fishing and travel, especially spending winters in Alamo, TX at the Alamo Palms RV Park.

Dale is survived by his wife, Marva Collingwood Davis Wilson, Altoona; two sons and their wives, Bill and Sandy Wilson, Des Moines, and Gary and Cindy Wilson, Gainesville, Fla; one daughter and her husband Mary and Terry Bashor of Corning; three step-children and their spouses, Jeanette and Gary Hoke, Wayne and Kathy Davis, and Karen Dirks; eight grandchildren, Steven Wilson, Stephanie Olney, Chad Wilson, Katie Wilson, Matt Bashor, Michelle Bashor, Kyle Bashor and Nichole Bashor; six step-grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; seven step-great grandchildren; two sisters, Maxine and husband Don Ingham of Ridgeway, Mo, and Esma Brower, Wellsville, Mo., and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Theresa C. [Cavanaugh] Wilson and brother, Leslie Wilson.
