Margaret Ann “Maggie” Geiger, age 77 of Walford, formerly of Amana, passed away Sunday, May 1, 2022. Funeral Services: 10:00 A.M. Wednesday, May 4, 2022, Middle Amana Church, Middle Amana, with Elder Alan Trumpold officiating. Burial will be in the Amana Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 4 to 7 P.M. Tuesday, May 3, 2022 at the Middle Amana Church. Memorials may be contributed to Camp Courageous in memory of Margaret. Kloster Funeral Home, Marengo is assisting the family with arrangements.
Margaret is survived by her sons, Stephen of Amana, and Scott of San Mateo, CA; three grandchildren, Abigail, Nicole and Gabriel Geiger of San Mateo, CA; her siblings, Darlene Bartosh of Walford, and Theresa Holub (Dan) and their daughter Kellie, also of Walford.
She was preceded in death by her parents, George and Irene Rettig, and in-laws Harry and Johanna Geiger.
Margaret Ann Rettig Geiger was born June 17, 1944 in Amana, Iowa, the daughter of George F. Rettig and Irene Mouchka Rettig. She received her education in the Amana schools graduating from Amana High School in 1962. She and Harlan C. Geiger were married on August 24, 1963 at the Amana Church.
Maggie worked for Die Heimat for several years as a front desk clerk and a maid. She then was employed with the Amana schools as a cook. Lastly she owned and operated Oma’s Haus Gift Shop.
Maggie especially loved and enjoyed her children and grandchildren. She liked sitting in the sun, reading, and working crossword puzzles. She also enjoyed the “shop ‘til you drop” activities with her family and friends. She will be greatly missed.
