Carrol D. “Shorty” Shaull, age 81 living his full life in Ladora, passed away Sunday, November 1, 2020 at St. Luke’s Hospital, Cedar Rapids. A private family graveside service was held at Genoa Bluff Cemetery, rural Ladora with Pastor Don Dovre officiating. Memorials may be directed to Shirley Shaull, P.O. Box 183, Ladora, Iowa 52251. Kloster Funeral Home, Marengo is assisting the family with arrangements.

Shorty is survived by his wife, Shirley Shaull of Ladora, his children, Christie (Jerry) Truemper of Solon, Jody Shaull of Ladora, and Eric Shaull of Ladora; 10 granchildren, Curtis, Kyle, Kelsea and Dean Shaull of Ladora, Jokob Knapp of Marengo, Joshua Shaull of Ottumwa, Michael Finch of Clinton, Justice Elliott of Sweetwater, TN, Tiffany (David) Mickelson of San Antonio, TX, and Chelsea (Calvin) Kroes of Lovelad, OK; 12 great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents, a son, Mark Shaull; a grandson, Jeremiah Shaull; and a sister, Beverly Davis.

Carrol Dean “Shorty” Shaull was born June 22, 1939 in Ladora, Iowa the son of Leland and Nadine Shaull. He attended Ladora Elementary and graduated from Ladora High School in 1957. Shorty was united in marriage to Shirley Tuttle on April 11, 1959 at Ladora Methodist Church.

He worked at Amana Refrigeration, Kaiser Chemical in Ladora, and he owned and operated his repair shop, “Shorty’s Repair”. Shorty retired from Victor Plastics in 2001. In his younger years, Shorty was a member of the Ladora Fire Department, and was in several square-dancing clubs, a camper’s club, and the Iowa Road Runners Motorcycle Club. He enjoyed motorcycle riding, mowing the yard, loved listening to country music, and grilling a good steak. Shorty and Shirley were very good dancers and enjoyed cuntless times on the dance floor in each other’s arms.

Shorty especially enjoyed going to his grandchildren and great grandchildren’s sporting events. He was known for his wonderful smile and laughter. Shorty loved his family so much.
