Fay Schuerer, 68, of Amana passed away Saturday, Oct. 20, 2018, at her home surrounded by family.

Services are 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 24, at St. Michael's Catholic Church, Norway, with Father Craig Steimel officiating. Burial will take place at Amana Cemetery, Amana.

Visitation is 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 23, at St. Michael's Parish Hall.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Essence of Life Hospice or St. Michael's Catholic Church. Online condolences can be sent to the family at www.hrabakfuneralhome.com.

Fay was born July 20, 1950, to Alfred and Margret (Schulte) Hansen in Cedar Rapids. She graduated from Norway High School in 1968 and the University of Northern Iowa in 1972. Fay met Gerald Schuerer while working at the Colony Inn in Amana. On May 15, 1974, they were married at St. Michael's Catholic Church, Norway. They were blessed with their son Robert in 1978. Fay and Gerry managed and owned the Colony Haus Restaurant on I-80 from 1976 to 1999.

She enjoyed working with people and taking care of family and home. Fay loved playing with her grandson, Ace and watching him grow.

She is survived by her husband of 44 years, Gerry of Amana; son, Robert (Alissa) Schuerer of Solon; grandson, Ace; and future grandchild in December; siblings, Russell Hansen of Bondurant, Ruth Ann (Dan) Thoman of Walford and Joleen (David) Driscoll of Williamsburg; and many more loving nieces, nephews, family and friends.

Fay is preceded in death by her parents.

Brosh Funeral Service of Norway is assisting the family.
