Mass of Christian burial for Darlene Bral, 94, Marengo, will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 7, at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, Marengo. She peacefully passed away on Monday, Dec. 4, 2017, surrounded by her family

The Rev. Wilkening will officiate at the service.

Inurnment will be in Calvary Cemetery, Marengo.

Memorials may be contributed to the Fairview Zippers 4-H Club, Compass Memorial Hospital or Meals On Wheels in Iowa County.

Darlene Bral was born on July 29, 1923, in McKune, Kan., the daughter of Lina [Scales] and George [F.] Walters. She graduated from Cherokee High School, Cherokee, Kan., in May 1941. She lived in Kansas before moving to Iowa in 1942.

She married Emil Bral Feb. 12, 1945, in Marengo. Together they raised their four loving sons on the family farm south of Marengo.

She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and aunt. Her greatest joy in life was spending time with her family. She was a member of the St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Marengo. She was involved in 4-H with the Fairview Zippers Club. She loved working with children. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.

The family would like to thank Compass Memorial and Essence of Life Hospice for the care their mother received.

Bral is survived by her sons, Phillip (Freda) Bral, Randy (Denise) Bral, Bary (Tammy) Bral; a brother-in-law, LeRoy Bral; her grandchildren, Brent (Christine) Bral, Tige (April) Bral, Shari Bral, Merrideth (Jason) Carden, Tony (Meghan) Bral, Bryan (Marissa) Bral, Randi Bral, Chasstidy (Anthony) Davidson, and several great-grandchildren and relatives.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Emil Bral; her son, Roy Bral; a grandson, Slade Bral; an infant great-grandson, Jesse Bral; her six siblings, Lina Bigbee, Baunetta Watson, Iris Peek Siske, Ervin Walters and Clarice and Farel in infancy, and a sister-in-law, Marion Gorsch.
