Jeffrey Alan Cheney was born on November 23, 1973 in Heerlen, Netherlands to Richard Don Cheney and Jantje (Spoelstra) Cheney. The family moved to the United States in February of 1974 and resided in the rural Deep River, Iowa area. Jeff was a graduate of the 1992 Deep River-Millersburg High School. He graduated from Central College in Pella and received his doctorate degree in Veterinary Medicine from Iowa State University in Ames, Iowa in 2000.

Jeff was united in marriage to Karla Lynn Grimm on July 27, 1996 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Williamsburg, Iowa. They were blessed with three children: Emma, Carson, and Jack. They raised their family in Ames, Huxley, Iowa and Morrison, Illinois before moving to Victor in 2003. Jeff was a partner and veterinarian at Farm and Family Veterinary, with locations in Victor, Brooklyn and Montezuma. He held a strong love for caring for animals and the relationships he has built with customers over the years.

Jeff was a family man and an outdoorsman. He was an ardent supporter of Emma, Carson and Jack’s activities and enjoyed helping them with their homework. He enjoyed the family trips to go hiking and camping in the Rocky Mountains, their recent trip to Disneyworld to celebrate Christmas last year, and the trips to Holland to see his mother’s family. Jeff will be remembered for the love of his family, for his hard work ethic, for his fun-loving sense of humor, and for being a genuine, loyal friend to many.

Jeff is survived by his wife, Karla Cheney of Victor; his daughter, Emma Cheney of Victor; two sons, Carson and Jack Cheney of Victor; his parents, Richard and Jenny Cheney of Deep River; and siblings, Timothy (Beth) Cheney of Victor, Michelle (Adam) Anton of Ottawa, Illinois, Kyle (Sierra) Cheney of Tiffin, Iowa and Sabrina (Joe) Peter of Sheffield, Iowa. He was preceded in death by his paternal and maternal grandparents; and a brother-in-law, Kevin Grimm, Jr.
