Robert J. LaGrange, 76, of Amana, IA passed away after a long courageous battle with cancer on Sunday, October 1, 2017 at St Luke’s Hospital, Cedar Rapids, IA.

Services are 10:30 a.m., Friday, October 6, 2017 at St Michael’s Catholic Church, Norway with Father Craig Steimel officiating. Burial will take place at Lenox Cemetery, Norway.

Visitation is 4-7p.m., Thursday, October 5, 2017 at St. Michael’s Parish Hall. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Unity Point Hospice or charity of choice. Online condolences can be sent to the family at www.hrabakfuneralhome.com

Robert was born July 11, 1941 on the family farm west of Marengo, IA to Joseph and Irene (Plotz) LaGrange. He attended St. Michael’s Catholic School in Norway. On a cold winter day in January 29, 1963 Robert married Dolores Schoenfelder in Sioux Falls, SD, and together they raised three children. Robert worked on a farm near Rake, IA, before the couple moved back to eastern IA in 1964. While farming was Robert’s main occupation, he also worked many manufacturing jobs.

Robert enjoyed farming, gardening, fishing and camping in his younger years. He also loved nature and sitting near the pond watching the birds and animals.

Robert is survived by his wife of fifty-four years, Dolores LaGrange of Amana, IA; children, Vernon (Brenda) Hartson, and Mary (Eric) Foreman both of Cedar Rapids; 6 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; siblings, Mark (Sharron) LaGrange, Cecelia (Gary) Burbach, Coletta (Don) Slezak, Ed LaGrange, Jim (Dot) LaGrange, Sydney (Karen) LaGrange, Monica Bender, Mary LaGrange and Anna (Randy) Mumm; along with several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Antonette Strawhorne; brother, John LaGrange, and sister, Rose LaGrange.

Arrangements are with Brosh Funeral Service of Norway.
