Dorothy Ann Folkmann was born July 19, 1929, in Homestead, the daughter of Adolph and Anna (Koester) Wichmann Sr. She was baptized on Aug. 18, 1929, and confirmed April 14, 1943, at St. John’s Lutheran Church, Homestead. She attended St. John’s Lutheran School.

She met the love of her life, Loren G. Folkmann, and they were married on Sept. 5, 1948, at St. John’s Lutheran Church. They lived and farmed together north of Williamsburg until they retired and moved to town in 1985.

Dorothy loved Jesus with all of her heart and was an active member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Conroy. She participated in the Ladies Aid, ESR Club and the church choir for over 60 years. She enjoyed baking, gardening, sewing, playing piano, singing, knitting, golfing and of course, crocheting her famous scrubbies. She had a caring and genuine heart and always saw the best in people and in every situation. She was a devoted, loving and kindhearted mother and grand/great-grandmother. She will be greatly missed by her family and the many lives she touched.

The family wishes to express sincere gratitude for the warm and tender care given to Dorothy by Highland Ridge Care Center and Iowa City Hospice. The love we give away is the only love we keep. I am going home to be with my Lord. The best is yet to come. Love, Dorothy
