Mrs. Schuermann Passed away February 14.

Friends were saddened to learn of the passing of Mrs. Ernest Schuermann at her home in Conroy Saturday morning following a five day illness. Funeral services were held at Trinity Lutheran church in Conroy Tuesday afternoon at 2 o'clock with the pastor, Rev. H. P. Greif, in charge of the services. Teacher Daenzer at the organ, accompanied the congregational singing. Interment was in St. John's Lutheran cemetery in Iowa township beside the body of her husband, who passed away in 1920. The pallbearers were Joseph Zuber, Fred Vogel, George Kummer, Herman Ahrens, Gotfried Furler and Henry Hagen. The services were attended by a large gathering from the neighboring churches throughout the community where she was so well and favorably known.

Christina Roth, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Mathias Roth, was born in Baden, Germany, on May 14, 1861. In 1874 she, with her parents, came to America, coming direct to South Amana. She attended St. John's parochial school in Iowa township; was confirmed by the Rev. E. A. Schuermann in 1870. On June 29, 1882, she was united in marriage with Ernest Schuermann by the Rev. C. W. Baumhoefener in St. John's church. The home was established on the old Schuermann homestead. Four children were born to Mr. and Mrs. Schuermann: Mrs. Basil Zuber, Miss Amelia of the home, Rudolph of Los Angeles, and Mrs. Christina Wiebold, now deceased. Besides the above children, she is survived by 10 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren, a sister, Mrs. George Trimpe of Williamsburg, and a brother, Wm, Roth of West Point, Nebr. A sister, Mrs. George Heitshusen, and a brother, David, preceded her in death.

Mr. and Mrs. Schuermann and daughter, Amelia, retired from the farm in 1920, moving to Conroy, where the home has since been. Here she was active in church and community affairs, a life-long member of the Lutheran church, always devoted to her family, imparting to all about her the splendid traits of character for which she was so highly esteemed. To the bereaved family the sincerest sympathies are extended.
