Celebration of life service for Clifford E. Carter, 65, Williamsburg, will be held at 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, Feb. 27, at the Harvest Baptist Church, Williamsburg. He died Friday, Feb. 23, 2018, at the University of Iowa Hospital and Clinics.

Burial will be at Yankee Point Cemetery, North English.

A general memorial has been established.

Clifford Edwin Carter was born Aug. 3, 1952, in Sigourney, the son of James (Bud) and Jean (Brubaker) Carter. He graduated in 1970 from Deep River Millersburg High School.

He married Mary Randolph on Oct. 7, 1989, at St. Wenceslaus Church, Iowa City. He was a life long farmer, farming the home place near Millersburg. He had been a life long resident of Iowa County, moving to Williamsburg in 1989. He enjoyed being a fishing guide in Canada at the Lumberjack Lodge a few months out of the year. Along with fishing he also enjoyed hunting, playing cards, spending time with his family and having devotions with Pastor Sauser and his church family. Cliff was a devoted son to his mother Jean, he would visit her daily and take her treats. His great joy was his two sons, he was so proud of them.

Cliff is survived by his wife, Mary; two sons, Michael and Charlie; his mother, Jean, all Williamsburg; four siblings, Linda (John) Dodds, Carlisle, Mike (Linda) Carter, Williamsburg; Jill (Dan) Smothers, North English, and Ray (Michelle) Carter, Deep River, and a number of nieces and nephews, along with his companion and nap-taker, Lilly the cat.

He was preceded in death by his father; an infant brother, Ronald, and a brother-in-law, Larry Sanders
