Eugene Finley, 85, Amana, formerly of Vinton, passed away Sunday, July 23, at Colonial Manor, Amana.

There will be no services at this time.

Memorials may be directed to the Amana Retirement Community, in care of Colonial Manor. Kloster Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.

Eugene John Finley was born July 2, 1932, in rural Ladora, the son of Bryan and Marie Conrad Finley. He received his education in the Ladora area schools. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War.

Eugene married Jeanette Maas in 1956 and later divorced. He was employed by Me Too grocery store and Harnischfeger Corporation as a welder. Eugene later married Sharlene Whiting in the summer of 1972.

He enjoyed his dogs, loved to go on walks, journaling and drawing, crosswords and the Chicago Cubs. He especially enjoyed spending time with his family. Gene was especially fond of heckling the Colonial Manor staff and giving them a hard time every day.

Eugene is survived by two sons, Daniel Finley (Teresa), Norway, and E.J. Finley, Cedar Rapids; two daughters, Dawn Pedersen (Brian), Fairmont, Minn., and DeeAnn Finley, Rosemount, Minn.; two brothers, Dale Finley (Betty), Williamsburg, and Jerry Finley, (Vickie), Bettendorf; a step-son, Bruce Whiting; a step-daughter, Cinnamon Sevening; and 10 grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Sharlene, granddaughter, and two sisters.
