Obituary – Mrs. Elizabeth Ross
Elizabeth Hare Ross was born January 30, 1853, near Dixon, Ill., the eldest of 11 children and died Sunday, January 22 about 7 p.m. She attained the age of 96 years, 11 months and 22 days. She came with her parents to a farm near Battle Creek in 1880. On March 27, 1895 she was united in marriage with James Ross. They lived on a farm near Kingsley several years, then moving to Ida Grove where she has since resided with the exception of one year in Minnesota. The past three years she has been cared for at the home of Mrs. Howard Lynch. She had been poorly since before Christmas and the last three weeks was bedfast. Her husband died in 1911. She was baptized in the Lutheran faith and was also a member of the Order of Pythian Sisters. Surviving are one sister, Mrs. Alice Slater and a number of nieces and nephews. Funeral services were held at Moore & Christensen Funeral Home Wednesday at 2 p.m., with Rev. R. J. Rutt officiating. Mrs. Fred Ford accompanied by Mrs. R. J. Rutt, sang. Burial was in the Ida Grove Cemetery. Pall bearers were six nephews: John Dutler, Frank Hare, Ralph Dutler, Joe Hartgenbush, Leonard Hare and Arthur Sherrill.
