James Richard Larsen, 30, son of Martha Madsen Larsen and the late Arthur Larsen, was born at Rutland September 27, 1938. He was fatally injured in a car-train collision a half-mile south of West Bend November 14.

Larsen attended the Humboldt Community High School, where he graduated in 1957. He was later employed at the Farmers Elevator and the Hastings Feed Company in Humboldt.

On June 10, 1961 he married the former Jean Becker. He was inducted into the United States Army November 21, 1961, serving in the Field Artillery, and was discharged November 20, 1963, remaining in the Reserves until 1967.

Following his discharge, Mr. Larsen was employed by Porter Electric in Humboldt and later by United Parcel Service as a supervisor.

He is survived by his wife, Jean; two sons, Larry and Terry; three brothers, Duane of Humboldt, John of Hardy, Virgil of Lamar, Colorado; several aunts and uncles, nieces and nephews, and other more distant relatives.

Funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m., Monday, November 18, in the St. Joseph's Catholic church at St. Joe. Rev L.C. Schumacher officiated, with interment in the church cemetery.

Military rites were conducted by the Livermore American Legion Post. Casket bearers were Dennis Pederson, Terry Hart, Bill Thorn, Ray Kunert, Allan Becker and Roger Thul.
