Funeral services were held Wednesday morning at 9 o'clock for Mrs. Chris Gales, 82, and her sister, Mrs. James Reding, 77, both killed on Saturday evening when hit by a car as they were crossing the street (Highway 169) from Mrs. Reding's home across from St. Joseph's Catholic Church on their way to Easter Vigil Service at 10:30 p,m.

Anna Thilges, daughter of Nicholas and Margaret Thilges, was born on Apri 5, 1876 and on February 4, 1902 married Chris Gales and have lived here and were members of St. Joseph Parish. Mrs. Gales also was a member of the local Catholic Daughters. Mr. and Mrs. Gales had 10 children, eight of these besides her husband survive. They are Margaret, Chicago; Eulalia (Mrs. John Altman) of St. Joe; Olivia (Mrs. Walter Elbert), Algona; Lorotto (Mrs. Ted Mori) and Alysious, Fort Dodge; Armela (Sister M. Carla), Antgracia (Sister M. Margarito) and Lucille (Sister M. DeChantal), all from Holy Ghost Convent, Techney, Ill. Also 16 grandchildren and two brothers, Roney Thilges of Tracy, Minn., and Casper Thilges of Algona. Two daughters, Mrs. Cecilia Loerwald and Mrs. Mike, Nick, Pete, Henry, August and Jimmie preceded her in death.

Mary Thilges, daughter of Nicholas and Margaret Thilges, was born April 13, 1881 and on January 6, 1903 was married to James Reding and have lived here in this community until 1937, when they moved to Algona. Upon the death of Mr. Reding, February 10, 1954, Mrs. Reding built a new home in St. Joe where she lived until her death. Mrs. Reding was also a member of the local Catholic Daughters of America Court. She is survived by two daughters and two sons, Alvinia (Mrs. Orville Wagner), St. Joe; Alice (Mrs. Ed Besch), Whittemore; Alfred and Ralph, St. Joe. Also 15 grandchildren and 4 great-grandsons. Two brothers, Roney Thilges of Tracy, Minn., and Casper Thilges of St. Joe. She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, Nicholas and Margaret Thilges, Mike, Nick, Pete, Henry, August and James Thilges.
