Millard DeLoyd Monson passed away Thursday evening at 7:15 at Mercy Hospital following an illness of several weeks. He was born April 1st, 1893 at Bode, Iowa, the son of Anna Mathilda (Olson) and Mons Monson and passed away at the age of 52 years 9 months.

He was one of a family of 10 children. He attended both the Parochial and Public Schools at Bode, and was both baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith in the St. Olaf Lutheran Church here in Bode. Burial in Saint Olaf Lutheran Cemetery, east of Bode.

While living at Bode, he was in the barber business. December 22, 1915, he was united in marriage to Miss Annie Lansing also of Bode. December 22nd of this year they celebrated their 30th wedding anniversary. To this union six children were born: Russell of Santa Monica, California; Grant who was recently honorably discharged from the Navy; Millard DeLoyd Jr. who was honorably discharged from the Marines in July; Lawrence Gene who is in the Navy stationed at Crane, Indiana and Ada Marie and Ruth Ann at home. He is also survived by one grandchild, Pamella Jean, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Millard DeLoyd Jr. and four brothers: Otto of Redfield, South Dakota; Albert, Arthur and Theodore all of Bode; four sisters: Mrs. Millard Walkner (Gladys) of Cedar Rapids; Mrs. John Rolland (Ada) of Thor; Mrs. Dave E. Thompson (Thelma) of Detroit, Michigan and Mrs. John W Saxton (Grace) of Fort Dodge. His parents and an older sister, Marie, preceded him in death.

The Monson family have resided at Barnum, Iowa for the last 17 years and Loyd was in the grocery business at the time of his death. UNKNOWN SOURCE.
