Geo. Bernhard received the sad intelligence last Saturday of the death of his father at Elma. Mrs. Bernhard went out last week to assist in caring for him and remained for the funeral.

Transcriber’s Note: Find a Grave shows this was Valentine Bernhard who was born Sept. 1836 and died Sept. 18, 1908. He is buried in the Howard Cemetery. Howard Cemetery shows he was born Sept. 11, 1836.
