Alice was born on August 30, 1929, daughter of Leo and Catherine (Cerwinske) Boehmer of Alta Vista, Iowa. Alice graduated from Alta Vista High School in 1947. She attended Upper Iowa College receiving her teaching certificate and taught at rural schools near Ionia for 1 year and 3 years near Alta Vista. Alice was united in marriage to Veryl Zubrod on October 24, 1950 at St. Bernard Church in Alta Vista. After their marriage, the couple lived in Hibbing, Minnesota, Elma, Alta Vista, Charles City, and Bassett, Iowa. In 1964, they purchased a farm southwest of Cresco where they lived until present.

Alice was kept busy with all the cleaning, baking, and sewing that come from living on a farm with 6 children. Alice loved making and decorating birthday and holiday cakes for family. She also enjoyed attending as many school programs and sport events as possible.

Alice made over 60 quilts: one for each of her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren and respective in-laws; dozens of baby quilts, helping with quilts at church and making veteran quilts. She contributed many of these skills to the need of the community where she donated her work and time both locally and internationally as a member of the Notre Dame Sewing Circle.

While life was busy at home, she also sold Stanley Home products and worked at Howard Residential, Northern Engraving of Spring Grove, Uptown Dairy of Charles City, various restaurants in Charles City and Tower Club of Cresco. She was also a census taker and 4-H leader.

Surviving Alice are her children, Connie Paulson of Dubuque, IA and her son, Micky (Tammie) Paulson and their children Mavrick and Saige Paulson; Lonnie (Nancy Price) of Windsor Heights, IA and his daughter, Jonie (Jared) Keune and their children, Wesley and Jenna Keune; Ronald of Center Point, IA, and his daughters, Amy (Chuck) Kraft and their children, Cami and Cooper Kraft, and Olivia Zubrod; Gerald (Penny) of Cresco, IA, and their children, Melissa (Jermy) Jones and their children Grace and Bearett Jones, Laura (Gayle) Johnson, and Amanda (John) Schmitz, and their children Owen and Natalie Schmitz; Rodney (Roxanne) of Cresco, IA, and their children, Ramon (Jenna) and Reece Zubrod; and Roxann (Alan) Vokaty, and their son, Shane Vokaty.
