Walter Herbert Hoopman, age 69, died peacefully at the Aase Haugen Home in Decorah, Iowa on June 7, 2022.

Walter was born on April 15, 1953 to Herbert and Marvene Hoopman in Cresco, Iowa.

Walter grew up on a farm north of Lime Springs. He graduated from Harmony High School and worked a short time at HECO. Walter enjoyed farming and liked to help out neighbors with baling and combining, and machinery repairs.

Walter was a friend to every person who knew him. He enjoyed crocheting, tinkering with bicycles, practical jokes, and good home cooking.

Walter was predeceased by his parents, Marvene and Herbert Hoopman of Lime Springs, Iowa, a brother, Keith of Anchorage, Alaska and his lifelong friend, Elaine Vsetecka of Cresco, Iowa.

He is survived by his sister, LuAnn Kingsbury, a niece, Hillary Kingsbury and a nephew, Matthew Kingsbury all of Taylors, South Carolina.

Walter touched the lives of many with his gentle manner. And will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
