Cresco Plain Dealer June 30, 1916 P-1 C-3

Grace Riley, the two year old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Riley, living west of town, was drowned about 5:00 p. m., Thursday, when she fell into a water tank containing about 18 inches of water. The little girl was evidently following a brother one year older who had climbed over the end of the tank to get out of the yard and go with the father in the field. The little boy reached his father who was plowing corn, and together they made one trip across the field. Just as they reached home one of the older children discovered the baby in the tank floating face downward in the water. As near as can be judged she had been in the tank about twenty-five minutes. Dr. J. W. Mulick was called but life was extinct. Elma New Era.

Transcriber’s Note: Her gravestone in St. Patrick’s Cemetery shows she was born in 1914.
