Memorial service for Vickie L. Block will be held 10:00 A.M. Saturday May 22, 2021 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Ostrander, MN with the Rev Herman Bakker officiating. Visitation will also be held at Trinity Lutheran Church in Ostrander on Friday May 21, 2021 from 4-7 P.M. and will continue for 1 hour prior to the service. Please wear masks and follow social distancing.

Vickie Leigh Block, age 69, of Elma, Iowa passed away April 15, 2021 at her home surrounded by her family.

Vickie was born August 29, 1951 in Preston, MN to Duwaine and Mavis ( Applen) Hellickson. She grew up in Ostrander, MN and attended school in LeRoy, MN with the class of 1969. In 1970 she was married to Robert Hofner and together had two children; Miki and Jason. They were later divorced. On April 24, 1999 she was united in marriage to Richard Block and together they made their home near Elma, IA. She served on the Community Center Committee in Elma and also helped with the Ladies Aid. Vickie was always willing to lend a helping hand to family and friend often showing up early to make sure she didn’t miss any of the activities. She enjoyed playing cards, camping with her family and spending time “Up North” at her brother’s cabin. Vickie truly enjoyed shopping with her granddaughters and was lovingly referred to as their “Fashion Grandma”.

She is survived by her husband Richard of Elma, IA, daughter Miki (Randy) Runde of Riceville, IA and son Jason (Special Friend Lacy Dohlman) Hofner of Warrens, WI, 3 granddaughters; Haley Hofner, Emily Hofner and Jordan Runde, 3 step-grandchildren; Kaden Dohlman, Abby Dohlman and Allie Schrepfer and siblings; Mary Lou (Steve) Crilly of Grand Meadow, MN, Jenenne (Larry) Nielsen of Spring Valley, MN, Steve Hellickson of Ostrander, MN Brent (Roxanne) Hellickson of Spring Valley, MN and Melanie (Bob) Anderson of Bellechester, MN. She was preceded in death by her parents Duwaine and Mavis, her in-laws John and Hannah Block, a brother-in-law Gary Gilbert and nephews Gary and Franklin.
