Julia E. Martin died at her home in Elma on Saturday, July 30, 1910, at the age of 17 years, 9 months and 6 days. She attended school at the Immaculate Conception Academy until the first of May, when she was taken ill. It was thought that the illness was not serious, but the dreaded disease dragged on until she at last sucumbed to its fatal powers. All that could be done was done for the poor suffering girl, but nothing available could be done until her Heavenly Father released her from her suffering. Julia was of a gentle, loving disposition, beloved by all who knew her, and her loss is a sad blow to her sorrowing mother, four brothers, one sister and a host of other relatives and friends. The funeral was held from the Immaculate Conception church and was one of the largest ever held here. Requiem high mass was celebrated by her pastor, Rev. Fr. Gunn, who delivered an eloquent sermon on the life of the deceased. Her body was laid to rest by the side of her father in the Cecelia cemetery.

Transcriber’s Note: Her gravestone shows 1909; however, this was published in 1910.
