Denny Cauwels, 67, passed away on June 1, 2019 in Cresco, Iowa.

Dennis Ray Cauwels was born on April 27, 1952 in Luverne, MN. He was born to Leo and Vivian (Lange) Cauwels and was number 6 of 14 children. He graduated from Magnolia High School in 1970. On December 11, 1971 he married Coleen Kleemeier in Luverne, MN.

After high school he worked construction, then at Hanson Silo installing equipment. In 1981, Denny and Coleen moved to Cresco, IA. Denny worked for Larry Mehmert and in 1984 started working for the City of Cresco in the water department. He later became the Public Works Director. He retired from the City of Cresco in 2009. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, traveling, riding his motorcycle, and spending time with family and friends.

Left to honor Denny and remember his love are his wife, Coleen; 2 daughters, Teresa (Doug) Reisdorfer, Cannon Falls, MN; and Beth (Thomas Norton) Cauwels, Minneapolis, MN; 1 grandson, Derick Reisdorfer; 12 brothers and sisters, Ken Cauwels, Luverne, MN; Shirley Holling, Brentwood, CA; Patty Cauwels, Omaha, NE; Red (Cindy) Cauwels, Adrian, MN; Jay Cauwels, Idaho Falls, ID; Rick Cauwels, Sherburn, MN; Bob (Linda) Cauwels, Ellsworth, MN; Colette Cauwels, Rosemount, MN; Colleen (Chuck) Anderson, Fairmont, MN; Becky (Bill) House, Phoenix, OR; Tammy (Brent) Gremban, Englewood, CO and Donna (Greg) Heidecker, Lakota, IA; many nieces and nephews.

Denny was preceded in death by his parents, brother Butch Cauwels and brothers-in law, Allen Holling and Bob Mott.

The Cauwels family would like to extend our gratitude to all the staff of Howard County Community Hospice and Regional Health Services of Howard County. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Denny’s name to Howard Community Hospice.
