Donald H. Hunter, 85, of Cresco, Iowa passed away on Tuesday, March 26, 2019 at the Accura Healthcare Center in Cresco following a brief illness.

Donald was born on May 5, 1933 to Harold and Florence (Hartman) Hunter in Cicero, Illinois. He moved to Cresco at the age of 7 where he attended grade school and high school. Donald graduated high school in 1951. He worked at the Rath Meat Packing plant in Waterloo for a short time. He then enlisted in the United States Marine Corps. Shortly after, he married Marlene Albertson. Donald was deployed to Korea where he fought in the Chosin Reservior Battle, and two tours in Vietnam. He worked closely with the Royal Thai Marines during the conclusion of that conflict.

In retirement, Donald enjoyed doing New York Times Crossword puzzles, was involved in H.A.M. Radio Clubs, operating his own radio. He was also a local storm chaser, and very much enjoyed going to car shows where he would show a Korean War Jeep and his Volkswagon Thing.

He leaves behind his wife of 66 years, Marlene, a son Scott (Linda) Hunter, seven daughters, Stephanie Barthelme, Christy (Darwin) Robbins, Rene (Ralph) Schmit, Valerie (James) Rink, Candace (Bill) Haley, Denise (Mark) Kissinger, and Kelly (Roy) Garza, 15 grandchildren, 28 great grandchildren, and 5 great-great grandchildren.

Donald was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, a daughter, a grandson, and a granddaughter.
