On Saturday evening, Nov. 28th, occurred the death of Mrs. Hayes at the home of her son, Joseph Hayes, in Albion township. Her funeral was held from the Catholic church, Tuesday morning and was largely attended by the many friends of the departed. Two daughters, Mrs. Cummins and Mrs. Ashmon, of Chicago, were present at the funeral.

HAYES.
Mrs. Thomas Hayes was born in Tiperary County, Ireland, in 1813 and died at the home of her son, Joseph Hayes, Nov 28,1903.
Deceased came to America when 17 years of age. Six years later she married Peter Looby at Troy, N. Y. She moved to Milwaukee when it was a small villiage, living there several years, where she was left a widow with four small children. Later she moved to Woodstock, Ill. where she married Thomas Hayes, who died April, 2, 1896.
In 1865 they came to Iowa and settled in Howard county, where she lived up to the time of her death.
The funeral was held at St. Kairn’s{sic} church, where the remains were laid to rest.
Deceased was the mother of eight children, the three living are: Joseph Hayes, of Cresco, Mrs. A O. Ashman and Mrs. R L. Cummings, of Chicago.
Deceased had many friends and had been a loving and devoted mother and a true and earnest friend.
