OBITUARY.
Mr. John Cameron, an aged and respected citizen of Winnesheik{sic} county, died Sunday evening, Nov. 22nd at his home in Orleans twp, after an illness of about three weeks.
Mr. Cameron was born of Scotch parents in the city of New York, Aug. 5th, 1828.
After residing for a short time in that city, he, with his parents, moved to Delevan, Walworth, Co. Wisconsin. In 1836 he, with a brother, came to Iowa and settled on a farm near Calmar, Winnesheik{sic} Co, Iowa, where he lived until 1865, when he moved to his late home where he has since resided.
In 1869 he was married to Miss Adaline Brooks, who died in May, 1871. To this union were born three children.
In June 1872 he was again married to Miss Martha Johnson, who with her eight children stills survive him.
Mr. Cameron has been in poor health for a number of years, but the last illness was a complication of diseases and of short duration.
He bore his intense suffering with great patience although he, himself, seemed to realze{sic} that the end was near.
The deceased was a man of good moral principles, a strictly upright, honorable business man.
He leaves to mourn his loss a loving wife, three daughters and eight sons who have the sympathy of the entire community in their sad bereavement.
The floral offerings were very beautiful and he was tenderly borne to his last resting place in Oak Lawn, on Thanksgiving day, by six of his eldest sons, accompanied by a large number of friends and neighbors.
CARD OF THANKS.
We wish to return our sincere thanks to the many kind friends and neighbors who so willingly assisted us during the sickness, death and burial of our beloved husband and father.
