Funeral Services were held on Friday, July 19, 2002 for Evelyn Zotika, at the Assumption Worship Center in Cresco, Iowa with the Rev. Henry W. Charipar officiating. Burial was in Calvary Cemetery at Cresco.
Evelyn Mary Zotika, 84, died Tuesday, July 16, 2002 at the Grandview Heights Nursing Home in Marshalltown, Iowa.
Zotika was born on April 12, 1918 near Saratoga, Howard County, Iowa, the daughter of Albert J. and Clara (Ranc) Haskovec. She attended the rural school near her home and the attended Lime Springs High School. Following her education, she returned to her parents on the farm.
On May 23, 1939, she was united in marriage to John J. Zotika at the Assumption Catholic Church in Cresco. Following her marriage, they started farming in the Lime Springs, Iowa area. They retired from the farm and moved into Cresco in 1973.
Zotika was a member of the St. Stephen’s Catholic Church in Chester, Iowa, until they moved into Cresco and she joined the Assumption Church. She belonged to both Church’s Altar and Rosary Society. While in Lime Springs area, she belonged to two different woman’s clubs. After moving to Cresco, she volunteered at the Evans Memorial Home. Mostly, she volunteered doing church work, which was important to her.
She is survived by her children: Sharon Witty of Melbourne, Iowa and Judith (Ken) Emde of Lawrence, Kan; three grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews and a host of friends.
Zotika was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, John, on December 15, 1996, and two brothers, Leonard and Clarence Haskovec.
