NEW HAMPTON - Robert Weber, 73, New Hampton, died Monday, March 4, 2002 at St. Mary's Hospital in Rochester, MN.
Funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, March 8 at St. Mary's Catholic Church.
Interment will be in the New Hampton Cemetery with military rites accorded oy the New Hampton American Legion Fae Stine Post #38. Serving as pallbearers will be Matt Kennedy, Gary King, Richard Snyder, Bryan Sheehy, Dale Ellsworth and Duane Boos. Honorary pallbearers will be Joe Sheehy, Art Bohr, Heinz Engel, Jim Ferkin, Melbert Holzer, Wendel Liddle, Ralph Kennedy and Linus Bodensteiner.
Visitation was held from 3-8 p.m. Thursday, March 7 at Hugeback Funeral Home in New Hampton, with a 7 p.m. Scripture Service.
Robert was born Aug. 21, 1928 at Elma, the son of Edward and Mary (Gebel) Weber. He attended rural schools in Howard and Chickasaw Counties, and graduated from New Hampton High School, Class of 1946. Robert was employed at Blue Line Oil Company for several years, becoming owner and partner in 1970. He remained in this business until his retirement in 1991. He served with the U.S. Army anti-aircraft artillery division from 1950-1953, serving one and one-half years in the European Theatre. Robert was a member of St. Mary's Church, the American Legion, New Hampton Golf and Country Club and the Iowa Oil Jobbers Association.
Survivors include his wife, Joan; one son, Alan (Jill) Weber, Minneapolis, MN; one daughter, Vicki (Ed) Kennedy, Edina, MN; four grandchildren; one sister, Marie Weber, Oregon, WI; one brother, Delano Weber, Marshalltown.
Preceding him in death were a son in infancy in 1966; his parents; one sister, Muriel Sheehy; one brother, Norbert Weber.
