Services held for Emma Korbel
Funeral services for Emma Korbel were held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, January 11 at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Lourdes with Rev. John Hemann officiating. Interment was in Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church Cemetery in Lourdes. Pallbearers were: Sylvester Opat, Eldred Rethamel, Paul Sir, Clem Kofron, Ron Balk, and John Casey. Con¬way Funeral Home handled the arrangements.
Emma, 93, died Tuesday, January 8, 2002 at Cresco Care Center in Cresco.
Emma Marie Korbel was born May 16, 1908 in Howard County near Lourdes, the daughter of Frank and Agnes (Sir) Opat. She attended Our Lady of Lourdes school. After school she helped other families with housework.
On October 6, 1924 she married William Korbel at Our Lady of Lourdes Church. Following their marriage they farmed near Lourdes.
She was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Church and its Altar and Rosary Society. She liked to crochet, especially doilies.
She is survived by one daughter: Geraldine of Lime Springs.
Emma was preceded in death by her husband William on March 30, 1937; one son: Michael J. in 1993; her parents; three brothers: Frank, Joe, and Edward; and three sisters: Agnes Hruska, Frances Foley, and Ruth Rethamel.
